Founded in 1945 as a pharmaceutical company, GOSH COPENHAGEN quickly moved into the cosmetics industry. GOSH COPENHAGEN products are currently sold in more than 80 countries throughout the world.

Brand History

It didn’t actually begin with beauty. When the company behind GOSH COPENHAGEN was founded in 1945 by Einer Tjellesen, focus was on business opportunities with pharmaceutical companies in the health sector. Today, Bo Tjellesen, son of founder Einer Tjellesen, is the director of GOSH COPENHAGEN.

In the 1950s, beauty products were added to the market and Tjellesen’s company grew into an agency with a range of international labels, before the decision was later made to focus on own-brand trading.

The first GOSH COPENHAGEN product was introduced in 1979 and proved to be a very good strategic move.

Over the course of only a few years, the company transformed from agency to manufacturing company solely concentrating on its own brand.

In the mid-1980s, the export of GOSH COPENHAGEN products was established and by the early 1990s, the brand became a major worldwide product.

Today, the export of GOSH COPENHAGEN products has far surpassed the company’s domestic market and the future looks very bright for GOSH COPENHAGEN.
